Led by siblings Kate and James, Hathaways stand out from other indie-pop bands not just for their songwriting, but also for the unique Andean influence on their music. Kate's use of the charango, a South American 10-stringed instrument, takes the band to a completely different wonderful place. Truly fresh, new, and absolutely one of a kind.
In more recent news, Hathaways have been selected as Noisehive Ambassador artists (international distribution); have performed 2018’s SXSW and Summer Camp Music Festival (with 26,000 attendees); and have a new album titled 'The Wildertent Sessions' released 2018.
Hathaways' completely unique sound has seen their performances at countless events and festivals in the US, including TedX San Diego, Pygmalion Music Festival, Global Transfer Afterglow at Krannert Center, Mission Creek Festival, CU-Folk-Roots Festival, and Boneyard Arts Festival.
Hathaways have also toured Peru eight times, with warm reception and critical acclaim for the way they infuse American pop music with Peruvian soul, leading to invitations to perform on multiple Peruvian television shows, as well as 2011, 2012 and 2016’s International Charango Festival.
While Kate and James are the heart of Hathaways, their band has grown with additions, each with a fascinating story (ask James to tell you in one of his noteworthy accents). Rounding out the Hathaways sound, we have: New Yorker, Mothertone endorsed drummer Kayleigh Moyer; Louisianan bassist Jed Smith; and newly Nashville based Australian guitarist Alex Tomlins.
